Oct 10, 2019 - FASFAS Junior League 2019 is a development initiative to find new talents of Selangor’s best youth player. This effort is actually an elite development program made with the collaboration between the Football Association of Selangor, National Football Development Programme (NFDP) and FAS football development official partner, Westports Malaysia.
The main objective of this league being put in motion is to ensure that all the new young football talents in Selangor are found and being given the chance to reach their full potential.
Other than that, the FAS Junior League will also give more coaches and youth team manager in Selangor to monitor the growth of their players in a better, competitive environment.
With the presence of this grass-root league, all the young footballers in Selangor will be given an opportunity to play against the players of the same age and skills in a competitive league. Furthermore, it will also become a platform for these players to get better playing time and also gain invaluable experience.
However, for the first season, FAS Junior League will start with U14 and U16 category which will be participated by teams from Akademi Tunas NFDP and NFDP’s district training center.
Other than that, FAS also planned to introduced the U7, U8, U9, U10, U11 and U12 categories in the future, which will involve FAS affiliates, making FAS Junior League is the biggest football league tournament in the Klang Valley in the future.
FAS Junior League tournament will be held from today till the next 8 weeks. All the participating teams will play in a league format, with top 4 teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-final of the tournament.
According to Westports Malaysia Director, Datuk Ruben Emir Gnanalingam, who also the owner of English football club, Queens Park Rangers and Los Angeles FC, the development initiative from the grass-root level in Selangor will pave the way in finding the best young players in Selangor, that will empower Selangor main team in the future. Westports Malaysia is committed to being part of FA Selangor's effort in making the team football great again.
Hopefully, with the launch of the FAS Junior League, the grass-root development of Selangor football will reap its rewards in the near future.
